In the first incident, police say that Daniel Patrick Griffin, 21, tried to steal 12 bottles of alcohol from the Orchid Garden Hotel in Patong. It is believed Mr Griffin, visiting Phuket with friends from Canberra, tried to leave the premises with the bottles wrapped in a tablecloth on January 8.
At 3am yesterday, Patong police say, another Australian, David Nygaard, 24, attempted to leave the Seduction nightclub with a bottle of vodka for which he hadn't paid.
Both men have been granted bail of 200,000 baht, pending court appearances. According to Patong police, both men have admitted their guilt.
A third Australian tourist, Gilman Ferreira Martins, 31, was arrested in the departure lounge at Phuket airport about 6am on January 5 for allegedly stealing a pair of sunglasses from the duty free shop.

Convicts shipped to Australia were nearly all British, and they were sent to Australia only once it was no longer possible to send them to America. Many others remained in Britain.
