PHUKET: An Australian expat living on Phuket has collapsed and died after a regular exercise session at a Patong gymnasium.
Patong police say it appears that Kerry Michael Regan, 61, collapsed after his regular stint on a stationary bike and a running machine at the Phuket Gym Patong, next to the Bel Aire Resort Phuket in Sainamyen Road, which runs between the beach road and Rat-U-Tit-200-Pi Road.
His Thai wife, who lived with Mr Regan in Nanai Road, said that her husband had never told her about any heart problem, but he did take his blood pressure and measure his pulse rate often.
A spokesman for the gym said Mr Regan was a regular who usually walked from Nanai Road for his workouts.
Mr Regan was admitted to Patong Hospital about 11am yesterday but did not recover.
