Air Asia is launching a mid-year break sale, as weather gets chilly in Australia, with discounted fares to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. The sale runs from now until February 21, 2011 for travel May 4 to July 31, 2011 with fares to holiday destinations such as Phuket and Krabi starting from just $A21.

SINGAPORE Airlines slashed fares by up to 30 percent yesterday out of Bangkok with Bangkok-Singapore flights now on offer for 7190 baht return. That triggered cuts and promotions by other airlines.
Thai Airways International responded Saturday afternoon by cutting fares to 18 destinations around the globe. Discounts run between 15 percent and 30 percent around Asean countries, to Australia, Europe and Russia.
The moves are seen as a declaration of war to draw passengers back from budget carriers - and to stave off other full-service competitors.
Qantas fired back with a promotion of fares beginning at 16,900 baht between Bangkok and four Australian capital city destinations.
Oman Airlines announced a campaign for the Muscat Festival that would cut prices to the Middle East from Bangkok, with flights to Doha costing 13,000 baht return.
More cuts and promotions are expected to drive a flurry of activity. Most of the promotions run until April, after Songkran (Thai New Year) or mid-year.
Singapore Airlines is slashing fares especially on Bangkok-Singapore for its travel fair 2011.
