PHUKET: Developers of the Eva Beach project in southern Phuket told Phuket's media today that they had been unjustly accused of breaching rules and regulations when official documents actually proved their honesty.
Thai songstress Tata Young performed to open the project as ''the Diva at the Eva'' in Rawai in January 2010.
However, Eva Managing Director Authanop Phankamnurd told the Phuket media today that the project had since won the approval of the Phuket Governor's Special Committee on the Environment, established by former Phuket Governor Wichai Praisa-ngob, as well as the Rawai municipal council.
He said the Eva project had suffered serious setbacks because of the latest public claims that construction is too high and too close to the water's edge. The management had all the required paperwork, Phuket's media was told today.
''Some of our buyers are looking to live there, others are keen on Eva Beach as an investment,'' said Khun Austanop. With him today talking to the Phuket media were lawyer Sittiporn Polsorn and company director Kamtorn Chairat.
''Many people have been asking about the project but we have been doing everything as we are legally obligated to do,'' the media was told.
Although some buyers were now asking for their money back, the Eva developers had decided not to refund money because everything they had done was within the law.
The 22 units at the Eva were for sale for about 30 million baht each, the meeting was told.
A company set up by a foreigner near the Eva was mostly to blame for circulating false information, the Eva team said.
