PHUKET: Protesters were demonstrating outside the Governor's Mansion in Phuket City late tonight over lack of action on their complaint regarding a Phuket condominium.
About 10 men and women stood outside Governor Maitree Inthusut's large home hoping to raise the issue with Phuket's senior administrator.
The demonstrators say they held an eleventh meeting on the topic at Phuket Provincial Hall in Phuket City on December 29.
However, the protesters are to be frustrated for a twelth time. Governor Maitree is in Bangkok tonight on his way to China for a goodwill visit to Xiamen. He will not return to Phuket until Friday.
Protesters have long complained that their electricity and water are constantly being turned off at Pornsawan Condotel in Vichit, south of Phuket City, and that the bills are extortionate.
Some said their vehicles have even been damaged with acid in incidents that they believed could be linked to their complaints.
The protesters say they have tried every avenue, taking their complaints first to Phuket Provincial Hall officials in Phuket City and then to the Phuket office of the Damrungtam, which serves as an ombudsman.
The Governor has been at some of the previous Phuket Provincial Hall meetings. Tonight's protest was peaceful and did not begin until about 10pm.
