US RESORT brand Outrigger has severed its connection with the Serenity Terraces Resort in Rawai, effective from April 1. The Hawaii-based Outrigger helped drive awareness of the resort and property sales from the time the management arrangement was announced on April 2 last year.
Outrigger, still committed to Phuket, plans to maintain its office on the island at Plaza Del Mar in Cherng Talay as a base for forays across Asia.
Signage on and near Serenity Terraces Resort was changed recently, and a sharp-eyed local alerted Phuketwan to the switch, along with a new resort website devoid of the Outrigger imprint.
A letter sent by email today and bearing the date April 19 says:
''Outrigger Hotels (Thailand) Limited, a member of Outrigger Enterprises Group, has ceased to operate and manage Serenity Terraces Resort, Rawai, Phuket with effect from April 1, 2010. Outrigger will be making no further public comment at this time.
''In Phuket, Outrigger still continues to manage the extremely successful Outrigger Laguna Phuket Resort and Villas. In addition to properties in Bali, Outrigger has a development pipeline in Asia that includes China, Korea, India and Vietnam.

At one stage, Outrigger was also in place to manage the West Sands resort and residences property at Mai Khao. West Sands is now managing the property and the adjoining Splash Jungle waterpark independently.
