SEVENTY teams from 35 countries are scheduled to compete in this year's Phuket Thailand Open women's volleyball title.
The $190,000 final in the world title series grows in size and status each time, with 15 of the top 20 teams entered.
The tournament begins on Phuket's Karon beach on November 3, straight after Loy Kratong, and concludes with the final on November 8.
Look out for strong representation from Brazil, especially their top pair, Juliana Felisberta Silva and Larissa Franca. They're hot, cleaning up title after title so far this year.
Phuket, with its squeaky Karon sand, is the last stop of the 2009 Swatch FIVB Beach Volley World Tour and the biggest event in Asia.
Admission is free and the tournament is played daily from 9am on November 4-7, with the final taking place at 3pm on November 8.
Spectators are also able to enjoy support activities including an inter-hotel amateur tournament, kids clinics, many booths and a beer garden and food outlets.
Competitors will come from Thailand, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Britain, Greece, Italy, Kazakstan, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Ukraine and Vanuatu.
