PHUKET: A new weekend market is to open at Phuket's Boat Lagoon to offer an alternative outdoor setting for Phuket's hordes of shopaholics, especially the ones who like water and boats.
Opening weekend comes for the new market on March 10-11 when five rai will be available to show off the wares of weekend vendors.
Organisers say there will be three shopping zones:
Zone One: Boats, of course, and boat parts and accessories;
Zone Two: Furniture, home decorations and second-hand clothing;
Zone Three: Food: International, all kinds of Asian including Japanese and local.
The organisers hope to attract expat and Thai families between 3pm and 10pm every Saturday and Sunday.
Through to April, special rates are being offered on booths at the fair of 100 baht a weekend (to cover electricity and water) or 400 baht a month.
People looking to book a booth should call 081 8919955.
