What Phuketwan says:
Eating in shopping malls leaves us cold so one day in the rain, we turned off the Bypass Road into The Point, Phuket's eight-storey shot of city apartment living, and were glad we did. From the undercover carpark it was just a walk up the stairs and through the lobby to the restaurant. If you've ever forgotten what stylish urban dining is like, then this is the place for a tasty reminder. Mauve is the color and the open-plan flows to a see-through kitchen or more space up a second set of stairs. The Point menu is compact, modern and one of the best we've seen, if photos of the items is what you prefer. In one corner there's a waiting lounge, in case the tables are already occupied. Chunky cutlery is usually an encouraging sign. While we had to re-order one drink, the bruschetta came in bite-sized chunks. And the main courses that followed were quality Italian. There's just one page of Thai food, with no photos, so to us, The Point makes sense as a relaxing place for slice of cheesecake or a meal after shopping or a western treat among the local fare. But we aren't going back to the city just yet, thanks.

How to find it: On the Tesco-Lotus side of the Bypas Road before you reach the new walking bridge across to Central Festival.

Parking: Out front by the door or downstairs, under the building, out of the rain.
