PHUKET'S Fun Fly should be a bit more of both this year as entries come from more countries for a brilliant burst of paragliding.
The first Phuket event last year attracted 52 competitors from eight countries, and the 2011 version already has 70 sign-ons from 15 countries.
There must be something about soaring off from Cape Promthep, perhaps the most scenic clifftop departure point on the island, and landing between three minutes later - or for the extremely expert 26 minutes later - on Nai Harn beach.
As a wind-powered sport, those taking part in Fun Fly 2011 are considered to be environmentally-sensitive - unlike those who fly using motors, with all that needless noise and added carbon footprint.
Last year the event included 156 single flights and 50 double flights, with those figures certain to be exceeded when the Fun Fly flies for fun between June 23-26.
Taking to the air will be some clifftop jumpers competing in the Canon Photo Contest 2011.
