PHUKET: Phuket FC's new coach is hoping for a budget boost of 40-60 million baht to improve Phuket's chances of jumping up to Premier League next season.
The team struggled and just managed to stay in Division One last season but Panipol Kuedyam, 40, is confident the Islanders have a bright future.
''I am sure we will deliver,'' he told Phuketwan today. His official appointment is expected to be confirmed at a media conference on Saturday.
Khun Panipol, a former player for Thailand, coached Army United to tenth position in the Premier League last season.
Army United is hoping to attract a coach from overseas so Khun Panipol became available and was eagerly snapped up by Phuket resort owner and Phuket FC benefactor, Pamuke Achariyachai.
Khun Panipol was reluctant to reveal too much before Saturday's formal announcement but he did say that incentives would be important to achieve success.
A new bus for travel to other provinces would help to improve players' morale and keep them fresh, he said.
The next season begins for Phuket FC on the weekend of March 2-3.
