CHILDREN celebrated an early Mothers' Day and HM the Queen's Birthday at Muslim Wittaya Phuket School yesterday with a visit from Phuket Governor Wichai Praisa-ngob and presentation of prizes.

Some of 999 rubber trees to be planted in the Queen's honor were placed around the school grounds in Thepkasattri Road.

Many of the mothers were there, too, to celebrate. Most of them received a small white flower to wear on their blouses.

Muslim students from Phuket once went to southern Thailand to complete their religious education, but now finish their studies on Phuket.

The official holiday for the Queen's Birthday is on Thursday and public offices will also be closed on Friday. Ramadan begins on Wednesday.
