THE INNOVATIVE Sarasin Bridge Festival uniting Phuket and good neighbor Phang Nga began tonight with a fair, fireworks and food.
Leaders of both provinces turned out to enjoy the fine night and to celebrate the first evening of the three day celebration, being held for the first time this year.
On Tuesday there will be more sports and entertainment to follow today's bicycle race and longtail boating events.
April 12 4am: marathon registration; 6am: marathon race; 2pm: canoes/kayak races; 3pm: longboat races for 20 person and 50 person vessels; 7pm: acoustic local bands; 8.30pm: Miss Songkran contest.
April 13 2pm: greasy pole climbing contest; 2.30pm: sea boxing on a pole; silly boat races; 2-3pm: Modern Dog concert.
