What Phuketwan says:
Seafood is something we love, yet the crab has always been our least favorite. This is not because of the taste, which is always delicious, but because of the need to peel away the shell before reaching the meat. At this restaurant, a superb deep fried crab with garlic is served. The crabs are small and caught locally. As long as they are kept in water, the shells remain soft. So we scoffed these crabs with great glee. They were absolutely delicious, along with the large local prawns and oysters served up. Sad to say, seafood is no longer the inexpensive treat it once was in the region. But here, under a thatch roof in a Muslim village, you'll find some of the island's best seafood. It's close to the takeoff and arrivals path of international jets, in fact close enough to be a suitable way of enjoying a real Phuket meal on arrival. A bottle of water is also half the airport price. It's almost worth the trip to avoid the extortionate airport charges. The menu begins with fish served in 19 different ways and becomes more intriguing from there.

How to find it: Signs have gone up recently on the main airport-Phuket City road. Coming from the south, look for a mosque on the right after the airport turnoff and Blue Canyon. On the left you will see the entrance to Mai Khao Wat. Do a U-turn at the next opportunity, then go left at the first road.

Parking: Space alongside the restaurant.
