The remaining nine holes are estimated to take another six months to complete, with the upgraded 18-hole course scheduled for full operation by January 1, 2015
''We are excited to showcase our 'new look' front nine holes, state-of-the-art course redesigned by Paul Jansen, lead golf course architect at Faldo Design, and share the experience with our anticipating golfers and members,'' said the Club's Director of Golf, Paul Wilson, who is overseeing the upgrade.
''This project sees significant investments made to improve tee box areas, bunkers, green complexes, practice facilities, drainage, irrigation and all playing surfaces,'' explains Wilson.
''Although these works may cause some inconvenience to our members and guests, we believe they are necessary to bring our course right up to a true world-class standard that will be appreciated by everyone who plays here,'' he said.
During the upgrade, members and guests can still access the existing nine holes which can be played twice for a full 18-hole round.
To celebrate the opening of the first nine holes, Laguna Phuket Golf Club is offering Thai and expat golfers discounted promotion green fees of THB 1,800* (half the usual THB 3600 visitor's rate) for an 18-hole game (two rounds of nine-hole play) and THB 1500* on Wednesdays only, from July 1 to October 31, 2014.
Laguna Phuket Golf Club, part of the Laguna Phuket resort complex and host of the 2009 Singha Thailand Open and 2010 Mercedes-Benz Masters Thailand, is Phuket's only integrated resort golf course and is staffed by fully-qualified PGA professionals.
The course features a wealth of scenic tropical lagoons and undulating fairways, set against a stunning backdrop of mountains and nearby sea.
