FC PHUKET was on top of the world tonight for 21 minutes. Or at least, on top of Thailand Premier League double-champions, Muang Thong United.
For those 21 minutes, about 700 FC Phuket fans held their breath - well, perhaps just a little bit - and dreamed the dream of every football fan who wants their local team to topple Chelsea or Man United or Barcelona, even.
And then it was over. At the 68-minute mark, the champions fought back to level the score with Phuket. But on the final whistle, the score was still memorable: FC Phuket 1 Muang Thong United 1.
Incredibly, the newbies in Division One this coming season had held the titans of the top who won Division Two in 2007, Division One in 2008, and the Premier League in 2009 and 2010, to a draw.
Perhaps it was just a warm-up at Phuket's home ground, Surakul Stadium in Phuket City. Perhaps the champions are taking it easy.
But how hot were Phuket? Red hot. Earlier in the week, the scoreline in the team's first friendly had been 2-3, so the draw was an improvement on FC Phuket's first narrow loss.
On February 13, the Division One season begins for FC Phuket, and a legion of ''Hulks'' fans across the island can hardly wait.

Well done! I managed to get to 2 games last season. Hope to see more this season, but hard to fit in with work - kick off time is normally too early for me. 7pm would be better!
