Thailand's Curfew Remains Unchanged at 10pm-5am for Now, Says Coup Command
Monday, May 26, 2014
PHUKET: The ruling coup commander has denied that a change is taking place in Thailand's 10pm-5am curfew hours.
Rumors that the hours would be moved back to midnight to 4am prompted an announcement from the National Council for Peace and Order.
There had been no change to curfew hours, a spokesperson said today, adding that the hours might change at some time in the future.
Tourism industry leaders on Phuket and in other tourist destinations around Thailand have made the point that the industry is being adversely affected by the curfew.

Happy about that: Phuket must understand that a brilliant future should come not from night entertainments, bars and discos, but from others kind of tourists.. prostitution, noisy discos, a gogo bars, public lap dance are dirty things that go hand in hand with the kind of tourists not matter if beaches are clean and pollution free. Dirt likes dirt.

If it encourages you to do a bit of research about what's happening and why, perhaps learning again is not a bad thing.
Have cancelled booking for 80 people due to arrive this Wednesday, because of curfew. If curfew continues more than a couple of days I will send next weeks tour group of 70 to Bali

On the 28th of this month, a very important game of league is to be played (first of three games)...it's called "state of origan" New South wales plays Queensland. Queensland has won this battle for the last 3 years. ED you reckon you could have a talk to the ruling coup commander too give us a bit of slack on the 28th. we enjoy a beer or two, regards john

The game that's being played in Thailand is even more fascinating, john. It's called history in the making. The Maroons v the Blues doesn't have quite the same edge. They play all the time, and besides, the Maroons always win.
Speaking to a guy today, he was in BKK two days sitting in a bar at 2am, walked home with no problem. Also spoke to a friend in Krabi, they said the curfew wasn't happening there. Curious.

Anything's possible but if you're pulled up after curfew, you may need an excuse.
A guest checking into her hotel today has reported on TripAdvisor that there is a notice in the lobby to advise guests the curfew is now from midnight to 4am!! A hotel in Khao Lak also reported this. Confusing!

Governors were said to have the power to adapt the rules to local needs in 24 provinces. As you say, confusing.
I just came from the airport to Chalong.
No sign of the coup at the airport. I did not see a single soldier and the place was full of taxi touts as usual.
Car traffic was busy going in and out and all the shops nearby were open.
On the way I saw several 7-11 and many smaller shops open, including both Supercheap shops in Chalong.
There was certainly a lot less traffic but by no means are the roads deserted nor was everyone on a legitimate airport trip.
What was most surprising is that I saw not a single law enforcement or army officer anywhere.
The curfew may be in force but it is definitely not being enforced.
Go see for yourselves. I was out Midnight to about 1am.

Maybe instead of focusing on making money from the night life, they could focusing on fixing up the place and making the beaches cleaner etc.....
After all that is what makes Phuket, Phuket.

You may not be having an issue, but the BTS is running only until 9 and all major shopping malls and restaurants are closing at 8. All of this is due to the curfew; I don't care how much history is in the making. A curfew fixes nothing, and only creates situations where people are quickly irritated.

Hi is there any problems getting to resort from airport after 10pm. Our flight arrives @ 8:45pm in a couple of weeks, probably won't get there before 10 pm. Cheers

From what we are told, there shouldn't be any problems with transport at that time.
Will the curfew be over by September?
