PHUKET: A speedboat burned and sank off Royal Phuket Marina today after a refueling session went wrong.
Five people were injured as the captain and a crewman dealt with the blaze and others came to help.
With a sense that a burning boat could cause great damage if the blaze spread, the speedboat - ironically named the H2o - was towed out of the marina area into nearby mangroves where the vessel continued to burn before sinking.

Marine Department of Thailand should make compulsory that all transport boats, particularly those with passengers onboard, must be fitted with diesel engines as it is done in many countries around the world. When we see most of speed boats going to Phi-Phi, Phang-Nga and Similan with more that 50 passengers and fuel tanks with more than 2000 liters of benzine, we may have to be scared about to board those death boat traps which may kill and burn dozens of passengers within seconds.
