Passengers waiting at Samui for the missing flight to Phuket

Samui to Phuket Flight Fails to Leave, Passengers Not Told What's Happening

Saturday, July 11, 2015
PHUKET: Angry passengers bound from Samui to Phuket were left to wait without information after their flight failed to take off on schedule today.

Among the travellers were lawyers and observers flying to the west coast Thai holiday island for Tuesday's trial of Phuketwan journalists Chutima Sidasathian and Alan Morison.

The Bangkok Airways flight, PG253, was due to take off at 10.30am and arrive on Phuket at noon.

''We have just been left to wait without being told whether the flight is delayed or cancelled,'' one passenger told Phuketwn.

Do you think the flight delay has any relation to the trial? That would be interesting.

Editor Comment:

No relation.

Hi Ed

You have lawyers and other observers flying in from many places to watch this trial. I hope none of us fly through any volcanic ash.

Editor Comment:

Eruptions are expected at the court, Ian.

I cannot predict the future. Maybe the whole thing will turn out to be an embarrassing storm in a teacup.

Anyway, you have an army of supporters wishing you well!

there is worse airports to be stuck at Samui is the most pleasant airport in the world

such estimate obviously is based on some good old memories, and probably paired up not only with memories exclusively of the airport.

I consider Samui the worst airport in the world:
- inconvenient,
- wrongly designed,
- not enough functional and
- estehically ugly,
however first time I've been to Samui airport only in 2004.

Overall I find Samaui most unpleasant place in Thailand and avoid it at all cost - it is overdeveloped in coastal zone much more than Phuket, potentially swimming beaches always have surf, and are narrow, except few small strips of Chaweng,; only nice view on the sea from the above, like 4Seasons on the hill and similar properties without swimming beaches.
Snail-slow traffic.
Chaweng and Lamai are covered with cabins reminiscent to those of construction workers, but are still called "hotels".
