What I find astonishing is that the foreign embassies, the ambassadors and other representatives of various countries don't stand up for their citiens when they are being defrauded by a corrupt justice system in Thailand. Cases like these should result in high level complaints and demands.

Hello Christian: Lacking basic morals and ethics is the bottom-line issue here - whether Christian, Buddhist, Muslim or not.

There are a few high level complaints - that fall on deaf ears, and a few "crackdowns." Here's the way a crackdown in Thailand goes Christian:

1. Wild enthusiasm, tons of talking, table thumping and a call for "heads to roll."

2. Slow disenchantment begins, when it is realized politicians or "people of influence" are involved and will never be investigated.

3. Total despair starts all over again when the case goes nowhere - as rarely are Thai people of importance ever seriously arrested or even investigated.

4. The hunt for suitable scapegoats starts - preferably a poor, uneducated person - even better if a foreigner (Farang, Burmese or a Cambodian) can be blamed.

5. Promotion of the guilty and prosecution of the innocent

Yes, I know all that. What I don't understand is why the local embassies of various countries does not stand up to it and protect their citizens
