The German tourist was reunited with his 28,000 baht in cash and passport this evening by Tourist Police in Phuket City.
Original Report
PHUKET: Have no fear, Sebastian Geiger, your passport, cash and cards are safe and being held for you. Enjoy your trip to Phi Phi!
The 22-year-old tourist from Germany, who is also a student at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, was apparently exceedingly keen to catch the ferry to Phi Phi today.
He boarded one of the boats at Rassada Pier and headed off in such a state of anticipation that he left behind his bumbag on the counter at one of the shops.
That's where Mongkol Kampanya, 43, a minivan driver with Andaman Wavemaster, found the bag about 8.30am and wondered who had left it.
If anyone on Phi Phi sees Sebastian today, please let him know that there's no cause for alarm. Being an honest man, Khun Mongkol handed in the bumbag to Tourist Police.
It's now available - along with the sizeable amount of cash it contains in euros, baht and Cambodian currency - to be picked up from the Tourist Police headquarters in Yaowarat Road, Phuket City.
A nice story and honest people do exist amongst the greed. He may have a miserable time with no money on Phi phi though...
