PHUKET: Beer is back at Phuket FC home games after talks with the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation reduced the scale of the alcohol ban.
Phuket FC chairman Pamuke Acariyachai said that fans would now be able to buy beer in plastic containers outside the Surakul Stadium in Maeluan Road and carry it inside.
''People like to have a drink or two to relax at the football,'' Khun Pamuke said. ''Everyone thinks this is fine, as long as people behave.''
There was a concern that Phuket FC could lose a sponsor, Thai Beverage, makers of Chang beer, if the ban on alcohol sales within a 100 metre radius of the stadium had been maintained.
Phuket FC is lying in equal third position on 14 points while enjoying its best season so far in Division One, with four wins, two draws and a single loss from seven games. The prospect of promotion to Premier League has never seemed more real.
Phuket play Chiang Mai FC away on April 20 then meet Nakorn Pathum United at home on April 26.
