Phuket Pupils Call on 'Uncle Prayuth' to Save School Land from Predator

Phuket Pupils Call on 'Uncle Prayuth' to Save School Land from Predator

Thursday, May 29, 2014
PHUKET: About 200 students at a school on Phuket called on coup commander ''Uncle Prayuth'' today to come to their aid in a battle to save school land from being claimed by an entrepreneur.

The students unfurled banners asking General Prayuth Chan-ocha to save the large slice of the school from being taken by a person claiming to have the land title, or chanote.

''We have to stop selfish people,'' ''Uncle Prayuth, please help us,'' read two of the banners at Kathuwittaya School in Vichitsongkran Road, near the Caltex intersection on the Phuket City side of Patong Hill.

School principal Montri Ponporn said that about 20 rai of the school's territory was in dispute. The land took in a rugby field, a section where agricultural subjects are taught and housing for some of the teachers.

Property on Phuket has reached high value levels and people who have allowed their property to be used for the common good are now emerging to reclaim it.

The person who wants the Kathuwittaya School land has staked out the claim, Khun Montri said.

Kathu district director Saiyai Chanaichoiwong said he would call a meeting between the claimant and the school principal as soon as possible.

If the land title is genuine and not in dispute.. And of course thats not certain. What do they hope to do.

"selfish people" now include people donating free use of their land for years ?? And the way disputes are settled is to appeal to someone with power to steal his land from him.

This is the lessons to teach our children ?? People with power can do what they like, no matter the legal rights of the owner.

The lesson is that once gifted, land should stay gifted, LivinLOS, even if the value of the property increases 100-fold and the person who inherits the gifted land is greedier than his/her predecessors.
