Lee Aldhouse, posing as an American, makes a complaint to police about a hit-run incident on Phuket before being accused of murder

Phuket Marine Murder: Kickboxer to be Extradited, Says British Source

Sunday, September 4, 2011
Today's Updating Report

PHUKET: Kickboxer Lee Aldhouse is to be extradited to Thailand to face trial for the murder on Phuket of former US Marine Dashawn Longellow, a British newspaper is reporting.

The Daily Mirror says a government source told them: ''The only way he could have realistically avoided extradition is if he would have faced the death penalty if found guilty. But the Thai Government have assured us that he will not.''

Aldhouse, 28, has 14 days in which to appeal.

The stabbing murder of Longfellow, 23, became a notorious case on Phuket as a manhunt was launched for his suspected killer.

Aldhouse was arrested at London's Heathrow airport a few days after the mid-August murder, having made his escape via Cambodia and a flight from Singapore.

Prosecution authorities in Bangkok are likely to be delighted with the precedent-setting decision by British Home Secretary Theresa May.

Once it is officially confirmed, Longfellow's family and friends in the US and on Phuket will be vastly relieved.

Prison conditions in Thailand were believed to be what caused the decision to run past the normal two months for a Home Secretary to decide whether an extradition is appropriate.

Phuket Prison is overcrowded with conditions well below international standards.

Authorities in Thailand will be anxiously awaiting a decision on whether Aldhouse chooses to appeal, a move that could mean a delay in the process or worse, extradition being refused.

Aldhouse, known as the Pitbull, picked a fight with Longfellow at the Freedom Bar in Rawai, a southern beachside spot on Phuket. Having lost the fight, Phuket police believe, Aldhouse collected two knives from a nearby 7-Eleven store and ambushed the former Marine when he returned to his apartment.

Did Lee Aldhouse Do It?

Phuketwan has posted dramatic footage of a man who looks like Lee Aldhouse obtaining two knives from a 7-Eleven store shortly before Mr Longfellow was stabbed to death. View the footage at

Well if its in the Daily Mirror it must be true :P. Seriously though, he will probably appeal this all the way to the High Court and if that doesn't work there's the European Court of Human Rights. I'd be very surprised if he ever sets foot in a Thai prison.

Regardless of the appeal process, - this guy [allegedly] killed an ex US Marine. No matter what, the outcome for him is guaranteed.

I inserted a word to keep you out of the lynch mob, JingJing. Let's wait for justice to take its course, eh?

Posting a video of someone who supposedly looks like Aldhouse buying something (it doesn't show what he bought), doesn't prove that Aldhouse didn't commit the crime.

If he isn't the culprit, why did he try to escape?

None of us would like to do time without a fair trial first. Let's leave the question of guilt or innocence to the courts.

The time limit for the decision expired on 30th August so there's no way he can now legally be extradited.

it's customary for decisions to be made within two months, but there's no time limit. The likelihood is that the Home Secretary was preoccupied with the London riots.

As a friend of Dashawn it's a good move, however the reality is very different. If indeed the report is correct and that Ms. May has approved the extradition, the next step is the Court of Appeal. Considering the gravity of the charge, coupled with human rights issues, even if the Court of Appeal uphold the decision is it most likely they will allow an appeal to the House of Lords. If they approve it, it's then onto the European Court of Human Rights. It's a long road to travel and I can only hope that justice is done and he does stand trial in Thailand.

Our belief is that an appeal to the High Court is as high as it can go. Once there was another level of appeal to the Privy Council, but that disappeared decades ago.

Spot on Chris T the EU will quash it even if the court of appeal dosen't he's not being sent back.

I seriously pray that you all all wrong and he is sent back to pay for what he did to my nephew.... he isn't denying he stabbed him but thinks his human rights aren't being considered because living conditions of Thai prisons? Dashawn doesn't have any rights left thanks to Lee murdering him so I really don't know why Lee should have any say in his living conditions.... at least he is able to still draw a breath.... Dashawn can't. His family is following this closely and you can trust and believe all hell will break loose if this man isn't sent back to pay for what he did.
