PHUKET police are hunting for a Thai man and woman seen entering the Frenchman's villa earlier today before his body was found, officers said this evening as a murder pursuit for the pair extended across the island.
PHUKET: The body of a 37-year-old French tourist was found battered to death at a Phuket resort today, sparking a murder investigation.
Police were called to the Morakot Resort in the southern Phuket district of Rawai about 1.45pm.
The owner of the resort called officers after finding the man's body under a bed in a resort villa.
''He arrived alone on March 6 and booked until April 21,'' the owner told police from Chalong Police Station.
Officers said the man's body was cut and bleeding and he appeared to have been battered or bludgeoned to death. He was dressed in shorts but no shirt.
The man's computer was missing, the resort owner said.
Police believe the killing took place over a woman, during a theft or because of a personal conflict.
Forensics police were checking the '' Hi 5'' villa for clues this afternoon.
The man's body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket City.
Phuketwan has been supplied with the man's name but is withholding publication until relatives have been notified.
What a terribly ironic name for the villa, Hi 5. Too many tourists dying of unnatural causes. High fives to the police, if they can catch the perpetrator(s).
