PHUKET: A young Russian mother with her baby on board managed to stay upright on her motorcycle when a passing snatcher grabbed her bag tonight.

Expat resident Daria Kurtova, 32, was riding towards Chalong Circle and opposite HomePro in Chao Fa Road West when the snatcher struck about 7.40pm.

Police reacted quickly and captured the man within 30 minutes, finding Ms Kurtova's bag in his possession.

Inside the bag police found 4480 baht in cash, five bank books and four ATM cards.

The arrested man, Adhitchat Yodwicha, 24, confessed and was being interviewed by officers at Chalong Police Station in southern Phuket tonight.

@ Andrew. The banks books and ATM cards are from Kasikorn and Bangkok Bank. She is not a tourist. Says right in the article.

The location does not surprise me as the Russians love Villamarket and often flash their cash whilst paying. Terrible crime especially praying on woman but this is a very desperate low season with many "zero Baht" tourists. Perhaps he did not have food to eat, not saying it is right to steal especially a lady with a baby. Well done to the Police for catching the guy so quickly.
