FC Phuket found something to celebrate tonight, even if it wasn't victory

FC Phuket Flicks Switch in Fighting 3-3 Draw

Saturday, May 19, 2012
PHUKET: For the first time in weeks, the repaired spotlights shone over Phuket City's Surakul Stadium tonight, and it was as though someone switched on FC Phuket.

In the most frantic 30 minutes of football yet seen at Surakul Stadium, both FC Phuket and Airforce United scored three goals. Then, as if drained of energy, there was no more scoring.

New president Pamuke Achariyachai, head of Phuket's Kata Group resorts, would have been pleased with the effort, although the 100,000 baht he promised FC Phuket for a win in his pre-match speech will be safe for at least another week.

New jumpers with Yamaha as sponsors were worn by the Hulks, and there seemed to be a few new fans among the crowd of about 1200 who turned out.

The game opened at a frenetic pace, with Airforce's Ononiwn Julius Churwama scoring at the seven-minute mark.

Just a minute later, Phuket's Proramad Krongborrisut evened the score. Not to be topped so easily, Airforce's Ononiwn scored his second at the 19 minute mark.

Airforce added another through Anat Intachai two minutes later.

Down 3-1, the hearts of a few Phuket fans must have begun sinking. However, the fighting spirit - and perhaps a thought or two about Khun Pamuke's 100,000 baht - roused Phuket.

Watcharapong Jannagm scored twice, once at the 23 minute mark and again at 30 minutes, and the score was level at 30 minutes at 3-3. That's how it stayed.

Phuket continues to languish near the bottom of Division One but will be hoping to be more switched on against Ratchaburi away on May 27.
