Mystery of British Expat's Death on Phuket May be Resolved by Autopsy and Inquest

Thursday, October 15, 2015
PHUKET: The body of a 51-year-old British expat found at his Phuket home is to be autopsied to determine the cause of death, police said today.

The man recently divorced - his former wife is now in Australia - and worked in sales at a resort holiday club based not far from his house in central Srisoonthorn.

Kusoldharm Phuket Rescue workers and Thalang police found the man today after colleagues said he had not been at work for three days and was not responding to telephone calls.

The man was slouched on the sofa with the television still on, said Colonel Chanochan Cholsuwat, of Thalang Police Station.

There were no obvious signs of disturbance.

''We don't think there were any suspicious circumstances but it's important to know what killed the man,'' the colonel said.

The British coronial system means there will be an official inquest and a finding based on all the facts, even though the man died overseas.

The British system is the best model for Thailand and other countries where there is often no sense of closure for distressed relatives.

Thailand seems to have a very high level of heart attacks and suicides! Hmmm

Editor Comment:

Total nonsense. But death doesn't take a holiday here and we report all kinds of typical fatalities among expats that only make the news here because there is no coronial system. So journalists provide a defacto checking system.
