PHUKET: The body of a headless, armless man has been recovered from a tourist day-trip island off Krabi after two days of heavy storms denied access to rescuers.
Instead of having to deal with the body of a female of Asian extraction, as they were initially led to believe through poor communication, paramedics found they now have few clues and a mystery as to the identity of the male torso.
The headless, armless man was recovered in the sea four nautical miles from Kai island, a popular day-trip destination from Phuket, shortly before a wild storm closed down sea traffic in the area.
Paramedics believe the man is unlikely to be Thai or a fisherman.
The only real clue to the man's identity is a pair of genuine Wrangler jeans. The man had been in the water for seven to 20 days.
No people fitting what's known of the man's appearance have been reported missing.
The body is now at Krabi Hospital where doctors are taking DNA samples.
Tourist vessels in need of assistance off Krabi are advised to call 075 622233 or 085 7868988.
