PHUKET: The puzzling death of a Korean tourist on a snorkelling day-trip has left question marks over the levels of care and responsibility taken by Phuket tour operators and boat captains.
Sang Min Kim, 47, got into difficulties while snorkelling off Hey Island - also known as Coral island - about 9am yesterday.
According to reports, he was quickly bundled on board the boat and returned to Chalong Pier, where an ambulance from Vachira Phuket Hospital was waiting.
He died at 11.27pm.
Saturday was an extremely blustery day and weather forecasters had advised small boats not to put to sea.
Chinese and Koreans are not all strong swimmers and most of the deaths associated with snorkelling involve Chinese and Koreans.
Although the process of using a snorkel is simple, unless it is taught to all tourists before they jump into the water, deaths are inevitable.

Japanese, Chinese and Koreans are not the best in water and cannot see the danger signs especially on beaches. Didn't any one execute CPR? Sad.
