A WOMAN from Phuket has identified her husband as the driver of a car that burst into flames, killing all four occupants, in a crash in Songkhla. She has been unable to identify the woman and the two children also believed to have been in the car.

Original Report

PHUKET: Police in Songkhla are anxious to identify four people incinerated so badly in a car registered to an owner in Phuket that their identity is a mystery.

The four people in the Honda City were burned during a crash at 7.30am today and it was impossible to even tell whether they were male or female.

Police in the Tapa district of Songkhla also could not identify the number plates so they had to rely on the engine number, said Lieutenant Krit Shinnakorn.

The engine number led them to an owner listed at an address in Moo 7, Rassada, Phuket City.

A woman at the address told police that her husband had driven the car to Songkhla yesterday.

Late today, the woman was on her way from Phuket to Songkhla with the aim of trying to determine whether her husband was in the car, and who might have been with him.

The Tapa district is in the red no-go zone of the southern provinces where an insurgency has been responsible for the deaths of 6000 people in the past 10 years.
