PHUKET: Vice Governor Somkiet Sangkaosutthirak led an inspection yesterday of a property on Patong hill where construction work impedes access through a public right-of-way.
Neighbors have complained that part of The Crest extends onto public land, making it difficult for neighbors to access real estate beyond the property.
Complaints by Utaiwan Van-Zandt were first recorded by the Damrongtam office on Phuket on January 29, 2009.
The accessway is supposed to be 500 metres long and four metres wide but parts of The Crest development encroach, officials found.
''It affects many people here,'' Khun Somkiet said. ''Land in Patong is expensive. But the owners can't do anything because the entrance is blocked.
''Those parts of the structure need to be removed. Now we are trying to contact the owner of the Crest to inform them (They live in Bangkok).
''This case will go to the court from now on. The Crest can remove the wall and the pillars by themselves. But if they don't, the government has to do it.
''The process of removing needs to be accomplished within three months.''
Vice Governor Somkiet said it was important that the neighbors settle the process quickly and peacefully.
The Crest is opposite Sea Pearl Villas.

Not sure why the government has to spend tax dollars to remove it? Nanny State.
