DSI investigators raid the Blue Sands office on Phuket today

Phuket Policeman Implicated as DSI Raids Firms Linked to Illegal Sand Mining

Wednesday, February 27, 2013
PHUKET: Department of Special Investigations officers led raids across two provinces today that implicated a Phuket policeman in the theft of large amounts of sand and rock from a national park.

Computers were seized on Phuket while in Phang Nga, the DSI, Navy officers, National Resources, local police and Forest Department officials raided a quarry site.

Interests centred on Blue Sands Co, based in the Srisoonthorn district of Phuket not far from tesco Lotus in Thalang.

There, DSI Colonel Paisit Wongmaung confronted policeman Kanongate Palawan, who runs a family business selling construction sand and rocks.

Earlier in Phang Nga, north of Phuket, officers inspected an area of 25 rai in Paklong Tung Mapao where officers say sand and rocks have been stolen from a national park.

''Today we were looking for paperwork to check whether these businesses are legal and pay taxes,'' Colonel Paisit said.

Raids were also conducted on the home of Mano Choonut, a member of the Phang Nga administrative organisation, and Chatchai Phuket Transport, owned by Wongwat Wijidjinda.

Investigators believe the businesses are interconnected.

In July last year, DSI led raids that resulted in the arrest of 15 workers, and the seizure of 17 trucks and eight excavators, along with sand extracting equipment and two guns.

When DSI will investigates seriously all civil servants in Phuket, PhangNga and Krabi about their bad behaviors and why they are unusually rich with their meagre salaries of civil servant.

@Whistle-Blower. You are absolutely wright, but be a bit more patient. I feel the Air is changing, the clouds are moving, the sky is clearing.
I have the feeling, no I taste and feel improvements are coming. The (Good)will is coming from somewhere and I do believe (no I'm more an atheist) so I do have confidence that Thailand & Phuket will become nicer again. That corruption & evil will be put in the fridge at least an attempt to this is & will be made!

Correct sliccmelb. Thailand does this as a hobby as they dont like to do manual work. Ever asked why are there so many people from Mynamar really working in Thailand?
