ABOUT 400 people turned up to look for jobs at the HomeWorks fair this morning, with more expected to attend this afternoon.
Most of the jobs available were in construction, resorts and life insurance. Among the hospitality vacancies were jobs at Sri panwa on Cape Panwa, Royal Crown in Patong, and Honeymoon Island (Maiton Island).
Retail malls and real estate companies were also seeking staff.
People took resumes and photographs and went through preliminary interviews on the spot after they registered.
Thirty-two companies sent representatives, with tables spread out across the ground floor of the HomeWorks store in the Bypass Road.
About 188 different kinds of jobs were on offer, with 1350 positions vacant.
Large boards carried another 1702 vacancies, with 22 companies posting positions in 170 job types.
Most of the job openings are for sales, followed by general service staff, housekeeping, cashier and accounting positions.
Thanawan Thongsukchote, Chief of the Phuket Provincial Employment Office, told Phuketwan that the jobs are for Thai nationals only.
Applicants are asked to bring their house registration documents, photos, ID card and certificates of education and training.
