A Lighthouse breakfast will set you back 180 baht, with the version for farmers costing 120 baht. Indicative of prices are french fries (60 baht) chicken tempura (80 baht) bangers and mash (180 baht) grilled ham and cheese sandwich (120 baht) Lighthouse pizza (250 baht) ribeye steak (350 baht) lime juice (60 baht) Singha beer (60/90 baht.)
Specialty: Build your own breakfasts, jacket potato mixed with other goodies (140 baht), and sandwiches made with home-made bread are all rated highly.
What Phuketwan says: ''Good food nice rooms'' says the sign out front, although Jimmy's is now just THE Lighthouse. Gone are the sailing photos from the walls, which have been brightly repainted, but the small no longer perfect pool table is still there. And the Lighthouse, whether it's Jimmy's or not, still attracts groups of people to dine on pleasant comfort food overlooking the pier, with the moon shining on the harbor water. A huge stack of magazines, each one putting Phuket under the moonshine of a real estate agent's pearly smile, greet passersby at the door. As a bar, it's bright and airy and very convivial, too. Incidentally, we don't think it ever has been a working lighthouse. It was just built to look like one. Prices might keep us from becoming regulars but for visitors who are shy about going Thai, this establishment is Chalong's shining light.
How to find it: Head for Chalong Pier from the Circle and turn left. Go along past the pier and a couple of Thai restaurant/bars, being careful not to let the pleasant atmosphere divert you. Next up on the left is The Lighthouse.
Parking:. The road seems to have been widened so there's space out front or at the far side
Phuketwan restaurant reviewers pay for their meals. If someone else does, we tell you so
