It's considered to be a sport for the well-off. Candidates from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Switzerland, Austria and France have signed on. About 200 Thais already enjoy the sport.
About 40 countries are expected to be involved by the time the first glider runs off the cliff. 'Target' landing will be a feature of the competition, and first-timers are invited to ride a two-seater.
