PARAGLIDING takes to the air above Phuket next month in the first Phuket Fun Fly 2010. Want to try it? Sure thing.
The parachute gliders have no engines. May usually produces breezy days on Phuket.
Takeoff point will be from Khao Dang, near the wind-power turbine a little to the north of Cape Promthep.
The Phuket Fun Fly runs from May 21-23.
It's considered to be a sport for the well-off. Candidates from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Switzerland, Austria and France have signed on. About 200 Thais already enjoy the sport.
About 40 countries are expected to be involved by the time the first glider runs off the cliff. 'Target' landing will be a feature of the competition, and first-timers are invited to ride a two-seater.
The best photos from the air will also win awards. Details: 076 255336.
