Another suicide by not wearing a helmet.

I thought under martial law people were supposed to be obeying the laws of the country, not willfully neglecting them like this with the inevitable results when an accident happens.

Yet another lawbreaker committing suicide by refusing to wear a helmet.

What is wrong with the people of Phuket that they refuse to obey even the simplest of laws?

There needs to be a cultural paradigm shift in Thailand before things improve in the safety awareness area- The Buddhist fatalistic approach to life is at odds with western philosophy - In WW2, Americans were appalled to discover that most Japanese fought to die, where Americans fought to live. Up to you.

So so sad, if she had only been wearing a helmet it might of helped.

But as we all know in Thailand the laws are flaunted, which is a way of life, that I so hope changes in the future...

We will probably never know, if a helmet would have saved her. Most of the helmets on sale in Thailand don't do their job, because of an insufficient quality. They are nothing more than an alibi, when getting checked. What do you expect from a helmet for THB 200 when a serious counterpart costs at least 20 times more ?

Hi Phuket Wan,

For Your information: at about 9 o'clock this morning there were a serius accident outside Baan Manik School on Srisoonthorn Road.
A MC coming from the Surin Beach side collided with a pick-up coming from The Heroines M. side. The pick-up crossed the road where the MC was driving. The helmet of the MC driver was thrown many meters at the impact and the driver lay motionless on the road.

if you think you have a 100 baht head buy a 100 baht helmet, they are excellent for protecting you against the impact of flying bird droppings but little else.

Helmets protecting you from a 3000 lb vehicle? They might keep the drunk from injury when falling off the bike and hitting his head on the curb.........many US states have rescinded helmet laws, mine included, noting that the false sense of security they provide outweighs the actual protection afforded.
