Saturday, October 19, 2013
PHUKET: Seven souvenir stalls were destroyed in an early morning blaze today that caused about 500,000 baht in damage in Phuket's west coast Karon district. Prakong, Soongnern, 30, a security guard at the beachfront Woraburi Hotel near the Karon Plaza said that three firetrucks responded quickly when he raised the alarm about 5.56am. Large quantities of tourist souvenir items went up in the blaze. Police are investigating the cause of the fire.

Glad no one was injured but lets get serious for a moment...the real surprise is why these fires do not occur with greater frequency.

Has anyone ever looked at the electrical wiring in this country? Geez, its even an issue at the flagship of moderninity--Jungceylon Mall.

With all the recent exposure of bribes and payoffs in this area, even initiating a National Building & Electric Code won't make much difference.

There is an old saying that every one of those codes was written in blood. Sure would hate if thats what it will take here.
