PHUKET: It was no ordinary blaze. The night sky above Phuket became a column of diabolical size, an explosion of smoke and fire, extending up into the darkness as flames destroyed the holiday island's famous SuperCheap store, noted for its anarchy. With sunrise, firefighters will be able to assess the damage - provided they have the inferno under control by then.
