A giant python finds wriggle room with six helpers and a home owner

Python Me, I've Just Dropped By for a Feed: Giant Lands in Phuket Yard

Thursday, December 18, 2014
PHUKET: A 50-kilo Phuket python that measures 5.5 metres has been returned to the jungle in Chalong after crashing yesterday into a backyard in a built-up area.

It took six men to ensure the giant was behaving itself today after the monster slitherer gatecrashed a home in Maneecram village, Kathu.

The owner of a house in the village went outside about 11pm last night and spotted the python in a tree overhanging his yard.

The next minute, the branch gave way and the python was on the ground, probably keen to find food or to find a crawlspace in which to hide.

Sayan Thammapan of the Ruamjai Rescue Foundation was called in and, after noting the size of the giant, he sought reinforcements.

Khun Sayan said large pythons probably once frequented the jungle on Phuket before housing developments took away their natural habitat.

The python was released in a part of Chalong that still has jungle about 10am today.

Just what is this python supposed to find to eat in the jungle now that wild life is practically nil? Putting it there is akin to just starving it to death, it will have to travel and find food in way of chickens and such near humans, and will now be at risk crossing roads, etc. Should have put it in a zoo. Let people take selfies with it or some other inappropriate occupation to pay its way.

TNM, I knew snakes and chickens would bring you back out of the closet. I was concerned that you may have been restrained in one of those CIA camps that don't exist.
