A man who stopped to help at the crash scene in Klong Tom was struck by another vehicle and is seriously injured after being transferred to Trang Hospital.
Salarh Wajedee, 17, was unable to give birth naturally on Koh Lanta so doctors decided she should be taken to Krabi Hospital in Krabi Town, on the mainland. Her mother and two nurses rode with her.
When the ambulance driver Pomsak Nawathavorn, 30, slipped off the road surface, Khun Salarh was killed along with one nurse, Wanwilai Kokyai, 37. Mother Haveda Wajedee, 58, and nurse Aurgkana Peachmanee, 42, survived with injuries.
Stopping his pickup to lend a hand, Herm Kajadpai, 50, was struck and seriously injured by Abdullmalleat Jamsai, 60, in another pickup.

Shocking. Studies show that road markings, signage, strict law enforcement and driver training reduce traffic accidents. In Phuket all these safety measures are circumvented. There are traffic lights where the count down to green doesn't always work properly that causes dangerous situations. Yet who cares? Nothing less than negligent and beyond belief. Law enforcement - nah, why bother?
