11 pcs of luggage by Yingluck traveling to France

===

She probably is traveling First Class, so then luggage allowance is 40kg per person , or 80 kg for two (if no servants are traveling together).

11pcs look to be far beyond 80kgs.
So she normally should be charged 1% of "Y" class eco cabin ticket for every kg, that is not small money, but insignificant for First Class traveller.

And she probably travelled THAI.

I wonder if she was charged for overweight luggage , or the airline took such burden on its account ...

Manowar:
No point other than proving that she's not often right but wrong again. Gold card holders on THAI, and YS surely has one, are allowed 60kgs baggage. As she travelled with an entourage, also with gold cards, all baggage can be lumped together and weight divided between the number of people in that entourage. As she has seen the baggage ('11pcs look to be far beyond 80kgs') but not the passengers, don't judge anything by its looks.

Pretty sickening to see the Shinawatra's being able to flaunt and enjoy their wealth whilst the country must pick up the pieces of their failed policies.

From his selling of Shin Corp to the hopelessly flawed rice pledging scheme, Thaksin proved he could never put the country before his own personal greed.

The fact he still walks free to enjoy his tainted money is a disgrace.

Pete, surely there must be an international standard with at least 100 requirements for allowable luggage weight, size, colours or even types of bags you should fly with or not. The blue or brown bag standard,
I know I've flown with a few over the years that probably would have been best left behind to eventually discard and seek a new, more compact replacement.

Manowar:
The BP says there were 15 pieces of luggage belonging to a group of 11 other passengers checking in with YS. Nothing wrong there (apart from Sue). Standards differ from the weight allowance in Europe and Asia to the piece allowance in the Americas. Check in staff can refuse baggage that is deemed oversize but within the weight limit as it could clog the conveyor. As far as I know there is no international standard, but there probably are 100 or so different requirements. Baggage handlers make their own rules.

Thaksin looks remarkably well for a man suffering from terminal cancer.(As reported by The Nation[alist] in 2010.) I wish I could make a comment about ultra wealthy elites to counter Arunga. Alas, will have to wait until I'm in a nation that actually regards truth as foundation of ethics.

@Manowar @Chris
There are 2 points:

1. If she has Gold card regalia, I do wonder whether she got or would got it for her private flights ..? Even flying in First Class you have to be quite regular international traveller, and Yingluk was not. If she travelled for official state business with regular flight and got credit for this, this is a pure corruption - e.g. in Scandinavia it is simply banned to account official flight for credits, FF mileage etc.
Same if she got Gold status simply as a gift.

2. THAI corporate culture is that BigBosses got big free passes - and there are many reports during last few years how rules, incl. on oversized luggage, are bent or supply ignored on such occasions.

Still, generic passengers got no free lunches when it comes to long-haul travel and overweight luggage.

Therefore I am curious whether overweight luggage rules were bent here again, and Yingluck just got her free pass.

3. @Pete There are only two passengers listed only two passengers above.

One BP article seems to be constantly updated during the day, last time 17:03, which set multiple versions of number of luggage pieces and number of passengers attributed to it.

My personal experience is that any bag that looks like being virtually empty still is of weight 11-12 kg.

So 11 pieces I assume can be on average at least 20kg each, so in total more than 200kg. If her leave can transform potentially in a long-term absence, the volume of luggage seems to be reasonable.

@Sue:
You have a short memory. Yingluck was PM for only two years, prior to that she was CEO of SC Asset Company and she would have travelled extensively around the world. She also made many private trips as PM so the miles she clocked up would be extensive, so sure, she has a legitimate gold card.
Can you enlighten me as to who or what are generic passengers. Otherwise who cares, apart from you, how much luggage she had. Are you jealous?

@Pete

Yingluck was PM for only two years

===
Have not seen for a long time, if ever, people who are unable to count up to THREE

Yingluck time in office as PM/acting PM: 5 August 2011 7 May 2014

2years and 271 day = appr. 2.74 years, so if you refer to Yingluck term in office by a integer, you have to round a calculation result a floating-point number to the nearest integer in accordance with arithmetics rules.

So correct statement is Yingluck spent three years in office.

***
she was CEO of SC Asset Company and she would have travelled extensively around the world
===
Never heard Yingluck was an avid world traveller.
Do you mean she travelled to BVI to Charter Yacht Show to chose a gift for a lucky customer lottery draw organized by SC Assets for its development projects, which all were located in Thailand at that time ? Probably only as a kind of fringe benefits.

***
generic passengers
===
the subset of generic passengers covers all members of a genus of passengers, i.e. a member of subset represents an average passenger

***
Otherwise who cares, apart from you, how much luggage she had. Are you jealous?

===

I'm fine about my handling my luggage by airlines as I have my own set of silver/gold card of all three major alliances which are occasionally of some help, can't remember when last time I had an issue of my own overweight luggage.

But in Thailand the national air carrier held practices that are not comparable with a status of being fully free of corruption, well until recently, and these took quite interesting forms and covered surprising range of people.

So I am curious whether these practices still were in place, since she flown TG, as a matter of test of wind of changes.

Sue, 2 years, 3 years, who cares?
Rounding up or down numbers depends on the requirement of accuracy usually defined by how many significant figures. Who cares.?
Gold card, silver card, blue card, who cares?
YS did not tell you about her travel plans. Who cares?
Average passenger. Who cares?
Who handles your luggage, who cares?
YS might have or might not have flown Thai, who cares?
7 questions and the same answer to all.

2 or 3 years, difference 50% , who cares, yeah...

Airport to Patong, 600 THB or 900THB, difference 50%, "who cares?", obviously only you

Truth and accuracy are important to most of us.

Sue, wrong again. I don't care about YS or whether a taxi fare costs 600 or 900 baht.
The decision to visit Patong or not has never been made with consideration to taxi fares or any other single aspect.
I'm sorry if it does not make sense to you but my family spends 3 months there every year generally between November and January. I try to make it for at least a month during that time. $10 aus in the total cost of the whole trip is nothing.
I also have a different approach to many issues in life with the sole purpose of reducing the possibility of problems or risk.
When my wife travels to her home which is about a 5 hour trip by road with no direct flight from Patong, I prefer her and my children to fly to BKK spend a few days, the fly directly to her home.
If she doesn't want to do this, I will book the whole mini bus for the 3 of them, so they can stop whenever they want and I'll pay extra to the driver to take his time.
Money is not and never will be a factor in my life to making a decision. The best and safest solution is found. If at any stage I could not afford it, it would not happen and I certainly would not choose a cheaper alternative to allow it to happen.
Therefore, I decide what is an acceptable risk for most situations where possible. I have no one else to blame, it could be seen that I have done everything possible to minimise the chance of any accident even considering the small risk.
Returning to your 50% rounding error it has no relevance unless either provided a different result.
If I buy 3 kgs of apples when my intention was to buy only 2, so what. It does not matter.
If I was to design a column of a building to withstand imposed loads and the error was 10% this would be acceptable because not only would the calculation include safety factors, but would also include maximum allowances for dead and live loads, wind loads and seismic forces which would far exceed the maximum requirement at any single point of time.
If I was programming the space shuttle with a course to the moon, this would be unacceptable as would be an error of 0.001%.
Rounding up or down is acceptable if the result does not change the outcome and is not acceptable where it does.
I know this must be strange to you being someone who's life requires guidelines to follow that are set by others but some of us were given brains and the ability to think logically and are able to decide what is acceptable to us, not just acceptable to others.
