I find myself somewhat confused as to what exactly your modus operandi is. Occasionally I might wish to add a comment which in my view adds value, but then perhaps in your view does not and if so, you will react with your now belligerent responses. I am not afraid of that but yesterday you attack an anonymous commenter for a comment that is moderated to a blank; so why publish it in the first place? There's no value in posting an answer to a blanked out comment.
Recently at least two people have said they will no longer comment because of they don't know how to interact between commenter and editor, (possibly because they comment for the sake of it or they write before they think). But the editor's answers are not debate, they are plain retaliation for something you don't agree with. Wouldn't the short answer be not to publish the comment in the first place?
Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and perhaps you misinterpret that opinion as being offensive or disrespectful. You openly invite readers to have their say, yet in cases when they do you berate them for in general, adding nothing of value. Perhaps in order to avoid confusion you could explain in detail your meaning of have your say. I can agree with your answers to those that suppose, speculate, guess and use the first person plural or the all too common 'most of us'. If a comment is so contentious in your view why publish it? Just throw it in the bin.
I'm by no means afraid of your snappy answers, but the purpose of writing this is to clear the air somewhat and try to determine your view of what is acceptable and what is not, and if not acceptable why we have to read about it.
I'm having my say here as there is no suitable thread elsewhere.

Editor Comment:

We've been over this time and time again, Pete. Information and comments based on personal experience are welcome. Opinions are not wanted, nor is guesswork, doomsaying, predictable ''I told you so's,'' supposition or bigotry. We are looking for people who have the capacity to add value to the topic at hand. Insulting me has never been a topic and in any case has no effect. If you think your comment is straight from the top of your head or merely repeating again what's been said countless times, or you have nothing of merit to say, don't bother. I hope that explains our outlook.
Occasionally we will cut a comment and respond to the writer directly in the hope they understand why the comment has been cut. If you prefer God-like decisions made without a direct response to readers, you have plenty of choices. Inferior comments will always be challenged here. We don't intend to instill fear. Readers who are scared to say something for fear of a reaction probably shouldn't be commenting. It's an online forum, not the real world.
I admit to being curt and abrupt at times. Belligerent? No, but comments that reinforce existing prejudices or repeat overworked urban myths are almost always going to be dismissed speedily. I have more important things to do.

Sometimes these snippets are very cryptic. What or who are the Bangkok boiler room guys and why are they supposably making a hasty evacuation. Trying to fine information, which could be a few days old, from the site is extremely hard.
