Phuket Turns Wet and Cools Off After Heatwave

Monday, December 16, 2013
PHUKET: The weather on Phuket is expected to be cloudy and drizzly through until Wednesday as low pressure over the Gulf of Thailand pushes towards the Andaman Sea. A spokesperson at the Phuket-based Southern Meteorological Centre (West Coast) said winds would be between 15-35 kph with waves of one to two metres. The cooler weather follows an exceptionally hot period.

I wish they could get a more accurate forecast. It is 29C at 1pm on the West Coast of Phuket, blue skies. Time to turn the A/C on.

It appears this institute like many others in Thailand have a system to minimise sleep disruption. They have an array of predetermined public announcements kept in a magic hat. Every month they extract one then publish it.

@ gee... yes, and anyway they even wrong cause when the weather cools, all the times becomes less wet. So wet and cool can't increase togheter... It's basic physics

Fiesty, I'm a little envious, you having 20??C, I'm in Mukdahan for Christmas, todays max. 19??C, first time in in a few years where I've worn a light jacket all day. Brrrr, cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey...um for the "delicate" amongst us, check out what the saying really means.

You woesies, dsiwatcher. Where I am at it is 4Deg Centigrade at night and I sit under beautiful open sky's and stars, drink my drinks and chat with friends. Yes without a fire. I sit in tee shirt and shorts and bare foot in the middle of the open plains. Whoa you need toughening up boetie. In South Africa our w@rs have toughened us up to cold. Going form 36Deg C to minus 6 DEG, oops, going from hot to extreme cold, we still wear tee-shirts and shorts. Stop whining ok.
Love the changes, it will love you back.

@Graham, I suspect you are a polar bear in disguise, I am from Oz, and our temps very from -2 overnight, in spring to 42 daytime, in summer, but yes, I must be a "woesies ( maybe you meant wuss or wussy)," whatever that is, because at -2 I am rugged up, hypothermia kills.

@Sudo Nim, you comment actually indicates maybe you are the "thick" one because many people do not know the true meaning, in fact, I put it to you, ask your friends what a "brass monkey" is. I await an apology, don't be too wussy to ask.

So the forecast was: 3 days of cloudy and drizzly weather, much cooler and waves of one to two meters.

I'm an optimist, so I'll say they were right on one day of cloudy weather. Unfortunately they were wrong on all other points, which is exactly why they have lost all credibility already a long time ago.

These articles are only spreading misinformation.

Weather forecasts in tropical environments are always going to be better than guesswork. If bad weather forecasts are proved wrong, only you seem to be complaining, stevenl. If you have some positive suggestions, please contact the authorities.
