Mangoba Parker Ngcobo today: he faces a lifetime behind bars

Phuket Tourist Caught Stealing Cash from South African Accounts

Friday, June 20, 2014
PHUKET: A South African man who today admitted stealing information from his homeland to make withdrawals from ATM accounts on Phuket faces more than 70 years in jail in Thailand.

Mangoba Parker Ngcobo, 32, was arrested about 1am today at a Patong resort after bank officials supplied police with security camera images of a man making suspicious withdrawals in Patong.

Police found 72 electronic cards in Mr Ngcobo's room. He said it was his third visit to Thailand and his second visit to Phuket, this time for four days.

A Phuketwan reporter asked why Mr Ngcobo had made Phuket a base but the suspect could not offer an answer. He faces three years in jail plus an additional year for each of the fake electronic banking cards.

Officials from the bank are to meet with police after determining how much cash has been illegally withdrawn.

I don't think he will generate much sympathy. Along with internet crime, this type of robbery has become all to prevalent & hateful.

Good I hope this sends a clear message to card skimmers, I had my card skimmed on phi phi island and money withdrawn from Russia so im guessing the Russian mafia had something to do with that..

Forgive this thieving rat, never. He is a scavenger of the worst kind. Next you'll be crying out that Julius Malema and the EFF's "we want da money", made him do this despicable act. Rubbish like him deserves his 75 year confinement, no porole. This was his third visit to Thailand to steal like this. Lok shaya wena.
