One of two expats arrested in a drugs bust by Phuket police

Phuket Time Share Pair Nabbed, Accused Over Drugs

Tuesday, May 3, 2011
TWO TIME-SHARE salespeople - a British man and a German - have been arrested by Phuket police in a drug sales ''sting'' using an expat tourist as the buyer bait, officers said today.

But the Briton and the German - and a third man arrested in the ''sting'' - all now plead their innocence and blame a fourth man who escaped when police closed the net on Saturday night.

Patong time share workers Marcus Simon Parker, 45, and Miki Maksim Klasnovic, 31, are being held pending further investigation.

Parker was living with his Thai wife at Chanakarn Village, opposite Surakul Stadium in Phuket City, while Klasanovic had a place at Baan Pasak in Pa Klok, east Phuket.

The expat tourist tipped off police about the activities of the alleged drug gang and agreed to take part in the ''sting,'' police said.

At 11pm on Saturday, having placed a request for four grams of ya ice methamphetamine at 6000 baht a gram, the informer met Mr Parker and Mr Klasanovic opposite the PTT petrol station in Chao Fa West Road.

The pair, on separate motorcycles, then crossed the road to the PTT station, where two men were waiting in a Toyota Vios, and where, police say, the informer paid 24,000 baht and obtained the ya ice.

When police closed in they apprehended Mr Parker, Mr Klasanovic and Sommart Waree, 29, who comes from Mai Khao.

But a fourth man, Cherdchai Chonkade, 33, from Phang Nga, escaped on foot. Police remain keen to talk to him.

A total of 11.3 grams of ya ice was found in the vehicle, with drug-taking apparatus, a set of scales and a number of small plastic bags.

Officers have impounded a Honda Wave, a Kawasaki big bike, and a Toyota Vios.

It never seizes to amaze me how incredibly stupid some people can be.

If you are hellbent on being a drug dealer, Thailand is one of the last places to do that.

Very low profit margins, harsh punishments and inhumane prison conditions.

I guess they consume too much of their own product.

Glad to hear if some are caught and kudos to any foreigner who helps to turned them in.

I wish more people would do that.

Give them 6 months jail for the drugs [if they are found guilty] and another 5 years for being Timeshare touts!

Time share and drug dealer. That'll look good on the resume.

if found guilty then by all means give them punishment but DO NOT associate timeshare sales people with drug abusers and dealers. WE are not all like that and only the small minded people who know nothing about the timeshare industry will put the two together.

I would never confuse drug users with timeshare touts.

Drug users come from every country, every age group, every class, every profession, every walk of life.

Timeshare touts are scum (for the most part).

I have family that were taken advantage of by timeshare companies and these are exactly the same operations, set ups and pressure tactics being used in Thailand.

That said anybody selling drugs in Thailand is just plain daft.

There's much more money to be made selling timeshares.

Rob, I am not saying that drug dealing is right and by all means its stupid and very wrong as well as taking, I would never be in that crowd and I have been working in Timeshare for many years in different countries.
Like I said, "If found guilty then by all mean punish them".
I work in Thailand for a company as a female OPC, I am sorry if you family has been on a "bad presentation" or "taken advantage of" through timeshare, GET OVER IT... WHOS'S FAMILY HASN"T?!?!?! Timeshare has been around since the 70's!!!
Be more up to date and either accept it or ignore it because we are NOT going away.
Especially if you're from Europe, America or Australia you have for sure been on a presentation.
The company I work for in Patong is a very respectable company with no bad reports and I back the product I work for 100,000,000% i have my working visa, as well as my colleagues and I am legally a loud to work. If my job was so bad I'm sure we wouldn't be a loud to work in other countries, think about it! If you don't like what I do... DONT TAKE A CARD FROM US. SIMPLE!
I see my UPS after they come from there presentation and they are happy, they meet nice people and get there gift as promised. (I'm sorry Rob if you don't understand my 'timeshare' terminology, but then again I don't really care what you think, you're in the small minority of people that don't have an open mind).
Regardless to what you think all I was trying to get across, was I don't like how people put drug dealing and timeshare people in one circle. It's not fair.
If you want to have a discussion about timeshare people then I suggest you go into a different forum cause the topic here is about drug abuse and dealing.

is it possible to get updates about this case?

@Brit expat. Nowhere in the story or in the readers comments does it suggest that timeshare touts are drug dealers or vice versa. You are being overly sensitive.
Why doesn't your reputable company set up a nice shopfront on the main street where people can come to you instead of sending your touts out to harass people? When wandering around Patong, I'll get asked once in a blue moon to buy drugs but it seems I'm being hassled every five minutes by Timeshare touts. Without a doubt the single biggest complaint that tourists have when coming here relates to the constant hassling of timeshare touts. Its enough to make some tourists not want to come back! And, lets face it, you don't care what happens to someone after they buy your product, you're only interested in your commission.
FYI, please check your spelling, "a loud" is spelled "allowed", "there gift" is "their gift" and "whos's" is "whose"

come on why go on about peoples grammar and spelling, guess your a teacher who earns 30k a month and works without a work permit illegally.. at least timeshare workers have all their credentials intact and are legal!!!!

Yeh but the grammar and therefore level of education is shocking, and speaks volumes about the calibre and intellect of the characters we're talking about.

@poppop. "works without a work permit illegally" is the same as saying "works WITH a work permit LEGALLY"
Now do yo see the importance of good grammar?
FYI, not a teacher and not working illegally.

"I work in Thailand for a company as a female OPC, I am sorry if you family has been on a "bad presentation" or "taken advantage of" through timeshare, GET OVER IT... WHOS'S (sic)FAMILY HASN"T?!?!?!"

I see - you are admitting that most people have been scammed by you timeshare people... defending the indefensible, in other words.

Antzpants. I think your a narrow minded, argumentative nob, who has nothing better to do than write negative stuff on forums. These dealers are also nobs (have i spelt Nobs right)
