PHUKET: A man who worked as a cook on a yacht was stabbed to death in an ambush on a lonely Phuket road early today.
The body of Dittachat Insom, 41, was found on a grass verge alongside the road behind Loch Palm Golf Course about 6.20am, said officers from Tungthong Police Station.
He was dressed in shorts and a t-shirt and still wearing his motorcycle helmet. There was a single stab wound to his left chest, paramedics found.
His Yamaha was on the ground about 25 metres away.
Police think Khun Dittachat may have been trying to escape his attacker on foot but a high wall alongside the golf course made it difficult for him to flee.
A bag was missing, police said. No obvious motive for the killing has emerged so far, officers said.
Khun Dittachat lived in Patong and travelled to work in Mai Khao - probably at Yacht Haven - most days, relatives told police.
