The pinkie bus flipped on its side at Phuket's Saphan Hin park today

Phuket Pinkie Bus Flips: Driver Struggles for an Explanation

Friday, June 26, 2015
PHUKET: A ''pinkie bus'' flipped on its side at Phuket City's Saphan Hin park today, with the girl who was the only passenger taken for treatment at the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation Hospital. The driver was at a loss to explain the crash but the police were not called.

The low-cost ''pinkie buses,'' run by the PPAO, criss-cross Phuket City and are mostly used by children, the elderly and tourists.

Driving below 50 km/h did help the driver to impress the sole young lady inside the bus!!!

I don't have a PhD in physics but my guess is the cause might be dangerous driving. Just a guess.

No surprises here, many of these Pink Bus drivers are reckless speedsters with no consideration for other road users.

Really? I've never seen a pinkie bus doing anything outrageous - mostly quite the opposite.

I witnessed a 'Pink bus' driver stop at a mum & pop shop on MaeLuan Road last Sunday morning, down a shot of Lao Kao then hop back on and off he went. Shocking behavior. Yaa don is a better drink at that time of the morning IMO

Maybe the bus was protesting over the removal of Khun Paiboon.

You'd be surprised how widely I travel, Rod. And I am willing to bet that I see more of Phuket than most. The average person usually goes from home to work and their habits seldom vary. We actually go out of our way to visit places we haven't seen or haven't been for a while. The ''office'' goes with me. It's called mojo - mobile journalism. We can upload articles and photos wherever we are in the world these days, although generally I'd prefer not to work from a car seat or a bus seat. On Phuket, we're close by the ''pinkie bus'' route and a day wouldn't pass when I don't see at least a few of them. As a trained observer, I reckon my ability to make accurate judgements is reasonably refined and better than most. You may be surprised to learn there are both good and bad bus and minivan drivers on Phuket. Damning them all is foolish. Better to gain an accurate impression of the world and what's happening.

I do hope that answer meets your high standards of inquiry.
