Phuket live-aboard dive boat captain Peecha Rengrad, 45, under arrest

Phuket Live-Aboard Skipper Arrested With Drugs, Handgun, Say Police

Thursday, December 18, 2014
PHUKET: The captain of a Phuket tourist live-aboard dive boat has been arrested for possession of illegal drugs and a handgun.

Peecha Rengrad, 45, is also a partner in the Night Bungalow on Phi Phi.

A tip-off led Phuket police to raid Khun Peecha's home address in the Rassada district of Phuket City.

According to officers from Phuket City Police Station, they found 160 ya bah methamphetamine tablets and 0.7 grams of ya ice.

Police also took possession of an M9 gun and 11 bullets.

Khun Preecha told police that the drugs were for his own use and that he did not sell them on.

Sounds like someone has a bone to pick with him ....
But it is nice to know that a skipper has a vast quantity of yaabaa for personal consumption. From what I understand extensive use of yaabaa keeps one's perception of right or wrong, and safe or unsafe, right on track. Decision making improves after 48hrs awake at the helm.

Looks like a real nice guy. I'm betting he would fit right in on Koh Tao.

Another question for Chief Marine 5 Office. ..Do you not 'order' your staff to do regular drugs tests on boat drivers? Like the police in Bangkok is doing now on tourists while they are taxi passenger?

I don't know what person is shown in the photos, but certainly it is not a CAPTAIN! Not exactly a person to trust your life with on a sea-ride for several days to do live-aboard diving!.
Is this possible in Thailand?

Ha!!! This is classic, and people that live here know that this clown is not an exception... more like the rule. In any western tourist destination these people would have no chance landing a job where the lives of thousands of tourists are in their hands. But here in Thailand, there are abosultely NO safeguards in place to protect innocent people.

Not exactly P&O Liner Captain material is he, here we have a drug addict in altered states of awareness whom is the master of vessels conveying paying customers I think the Governor's no more accidents speech to the commander of Marine 5 is whistling in the wind if this is a sample of the batch.

I have worked offshore 30+ years & drug & alcohol testing is part & parcel of our life - both routinely & at random. Thai authorities take note please.
