THE BODY of the boy, missing since Thursday, was found on Sunday in a pond near the Nai Harn lagoon. Police are unable to say yet whether he drowned or was killed. Doctors at Vachira Phuket Hospital will examine his body.

Original Report

PHUKET: The disappearance of a three year old boy from outside his home in southern Phuket has prompted alarm across the holiday island with parents being advised to watch their children with great care.

Police fear the child could have been kidnapped.

A search began for the little boy in an Angry Bird t-shirt and plain blue shorts about 5.30pm on Thursday night when Kongpob Cherket vanished from near his home in Moo One, Rawai, in southern Phuket.

''The boy was playing outside as he usually does,'' a neighbor said. ''Then he couldn't be found. Kids are usually so safe and secure on Phuket.''

Officers at Chalong Police Station are heading a search for the boy that will spread regionwide if his whereabouts do not become known quickly.

Anyone spotting the three-year-old in an Angry Bird t-shirt should call 0807752673.

My heart goes out to the parents and I pray for the kid, wishing nothing did happen.

Considering the high number of 'missing' kids in Thailand it would be a wise idea to implement the AMBER ALERT system. This system has been implemented by now by many countries, including Malaysia which is calling the system 'Nurin Alert')
Every minute counts when I young kid is missing.

@ Mr K, please tell me and other readers more about the amber alert system please? It's fine for the states but how could it work in Thailand and the tracking of kids going over borders? All mobile phone and news companies would have to be informed and be able to utilise this system of alerts?
Thank you.
